Let me introduce you to Krista Boelts...

Krista, sweet Krista... Her life intersected with mine when she and her family moved into town and started coming to our church. She didn't sit on the sidelines for very long until she was finding her way into a small group and she started volunteering with me doing admin work during the week. It didn't take long to learn about 3 big loves she has... Jesus, her family and THE BEACH! (I had a hard time finding a picture of just her and many pictures were at the beach.) I'm almost certain she'd be okay with being buried on the beach if it were legal (is that illegal? LOL) I have yet to see her have a bad day. Even on the days where she seems "down" about something, her words are still laced with faith and full of grace. She's not one to boast about herself or ever be the loudest person in the room so if you feel like you've not noticed her before now, that's why. She's very happy with keeping things going behind the scenes. I'm very grateful for her and glad to have the opportunity to give you a peek into her journey.

Q: How long have you been at Skybreak Church?

A: Since August 2017

Q: In what capacity do you currently serve?

A: I help in the accounting department 1-2 days a week and I also serve in Volunteer Central.

Q: What excites you the most about being an ambassador?

A: I'm excited to help build community and create connections with the women of Skybreak! To help create a safe place for women to be real and remind them of their worth in Jesus. To encourage and support the women of Skybreak no matter what season of life they are in!

Q: Tell me something that most people don't know about you?

A: I was 1st chair flute all through high school and have played the piano since I was 5.

My husband and I were married young, at 18 and 20, and had our first child very soon after. With being so young, I didn't have a chance to really develop my own identity. I was all of a sudden a wife and mom and all of my energy was poured into those roles. It has just been since my oldest 2 kids have gone to college and I'm not "needed" quite as much, that I've really been asking God what my purpose is and figuring out what I'm passionate about. It's been a difficult journey but yet wonderful at the same time. I feel like the first time in many years, I'm finding who God truly made Krista to be. God is revealing things in my heart that I didn't even know were there! Good and bad! He's been showing me how to relinquish control, surrender it all and truly trust Him. It's an ongoing journey and I'm excited to see where His path will lead me!

Thank you Krista! Any other young mothers out there? (I'm raising my hand high!) It seems like you're sort of growing up with your children, doesn't it? I just hoped and prayed that I wasn't messing up my first child up too much as I was sorting through all the advice through my immature filter. Krista is right, it's so easy to tie your identity to whatever is right in front of you, young mom or seasoned mom, or really... mom or not. As women, most of all people, get fixated so much on doing for others and doing for God that we have no identity otherwise. God has purposed us first and foremost to BE his child, BE his beloved and rest in the place he has already given us regardless of what our hands are currently doing. In this New Year, as most do with each new year, we plan on what we're going to DO... we get our to-do lists ready, our calendars are marked up, challenges have started and in all that doing, sometimes we miss it. We miss discovering whose we are. We miss the opportunity to rest in Jesus. We miss the chance to figure out who God wants us to become this year. When we figure that out first, the doing becomes more purposeful and less "busy". You've probably heard me say it before, "Busy is a cuss word." I want my life, my year, my month, my week, my day, all the way down to the moments, to be brimming with purpose.

I want to leave you with my word for 2019... I hope it will encourage you to set some intention this year so that you may discover who you REALLY are and who God wants to you become. OVERFLOW

There's my word... What's yours? How are you going to allow God to work in you and through you to make a difference this year?

As always, let us know how we can be praying for you!

Love,

Kendra
